about

Nasty Nes
’Nasty Nes’ is the first track in a row of several collaborations between Dutch and German producers Leisure-B and Julian Winter. Set in a summer beach scenario, it portrays the bright as well as dark side of relating to the tightly knit community of island natives in a given holiday paradise. Leisure’s laid back guitar parts combined with Julian’s intuitive keyboard and Ukulele playing, as well as both gentlemen’s extraordinary love for programming synthesizers, give this track a unique atmosphere and an incredibly live feel. The composition is supported by a range of foliage sounds which have been recorded by Julian on location during his travels around the world, in order to maximize the cinematic character.

Skinny Dipper
Skinny Dipper is the second track in a row of ten collaborations between Dutch and German producers Leisure-B and Julian Winter. This track is surprisingly lighthearted. It ever so subtly suggests the amazing sensory experiences of an unexpected summer shower during a private forest lake swim with one’s beloved. Electronic grooves, passionate keys, a fine selection of foley samples and home brew percussion once again guarantee the trademark Leisure Winter sound.

OMG
Sometimes the most wonderful moments in life present themselves under the most unexpected of circumstances. Unplannable, unforeseeable and incomprehensible, happiness manages to sneak up and strike merciless into all things holy. Leisure-B and Julian Winter made sure OMG managed to beautifully capture the moment of salvation found in rooting for the storm with this lush sounding, featherlight composition. A mix of old school instruments and modern day electronics, accompanied by Leisure Winter’s trademark homebrew folie sounds, guarantee yet another impressive listening experience.

The Hammer
Able to convict a criminal, as well as making the most beautiful of bells ring, the hammer can be considered an incredibly versatile tool which has been among us since the birth of our species. In the case of Julian Winter and Leisure-B’s latest track, the term is used in a more abstract sense and refers to the enormous impact auditory stimuli can have on the emotional part of the brain. In an instant one can be flooded with strong memories of the past while at the same time being forced to reflect on one’s actions, clearly grasping the total span of a lifetime in a single breath of air. The hammer is once again supported by Julian’s home-brew folie recordings and sports a rare feature of Leisure on the contra bass as well as a solid performance by Julian on keys and ukulele.

Porch Swing
Time is like a bubble in which each one of us travels through reality. Sometimes the bubble is small, and it feels like things are happening in an instant. Sometimes it’s large, making it seem like the past and the future are inseparably intertwined and completely malleable. There are many vessels which enable the enlargement of the bubble, the porch swing being currently one of the most common and readily available. Usually located in a familiar and protected place, it envoces quiet contemplation, intellectual exchange as well as the vitally important occasional cuddle under the stars. Porch Swing features Julian on all instruments while Leisure took care of the mix and the drumcomputer, and is accompanied by an extremely intimate recording of Leisure’s niece reading a story to his son after the barbeque.

Pretty Porta
Every man can be considered an island, its inhabitants constituting the soul. As every soul has a window of interaction, every Island has its port. They offer a standardized way of interacting with the culture of its people, as well as a gateway to its innards as a means of communication and trade with the outside world. Among them can easily be found some of the most beautiful and intriguing places on the face of the earth, and they should be indulged in when the chance is given. Pretty Porta reflects Leisure and Julians feelings in this regard. This is one of the few tracks in this series without any folie sounds to accompany the composition.

Sisters
Usually considered the better type of sibling, most sisters are indeed of incredible value to the lives of their male counterparts. Like a warm blanket, their embrace can substantially increase the joy and homeliness of any given situation. As well as providing comforting companionship, they are also an immeasurable source of solid advice and support, and thus should always be kept in the highest of regard. Let this song be an ode to them. This time Leisure played bass, beats and manipulated the folie artwork, while Julian took care of the ukulele, guitar, synths and rhodes. The folie contains actual recordings of one of Leisure-B’s sisters in the backyard of her house in Holland.

Farewell Football Part 1
Through the process of one’s youth, one builds up emotional pillars which function as a basis for dealing with future experiences. In time, these pillars lose their function and need to be discarded, with, at times, considerable effort and emotional cost. Football can be considered an important lesson of building character and emotional bonds, and as such is essential for the development into a young adult. There will come a moment in life though when the acquired character traits are strongly embedded, and the activity itself can be recognized for what it truly is, a fun pastime. This track features Julian on most instruments and Leisure on the mix and folie, the latter featuring a recording of Leisure’s son at the local annual soccer fest.

And All The Rest Of You
While modern man goes through life, he constantly finds himself caught up in social hierarchies in all sorts of forms and shapes. Even though the interactions induced by these social structures are mostly of a trivial nature, at times they can introduce life changing experiences and will at that point be essential to the building of spirit and character. Once the hierarchy is rendered obsolete by life’s progression, one should try to cherish and maintain the fruitful connections, while on the other hand thoughtfully discarding all the rest of them in a friendly manner. Let this song be an ode to that goodbye. Featuring Julian Winter on guitar, ukulele and synths, and Leisure-B on bass and music box.

The Crow
Being monogamous, smart, unobtrusive and playful, the crow embodies a lot of the qualities that Leisure-B and Julian Winter hold dear in this world. This big fat bird of a track is the third in a series of twelve plus which are being released over the course of 2022. The sunshine and aimlessness of its bornday have leaked into this composition while being molded by both artists in its Lo-Fi form. Julian finishes the track off nicely with a passionate but inconspicuous solo on the grand piano. Leave it to the crow to trade cigarette stubs for a delicious morsel.
